Residents from Lami to Nausori likely to face water cuts due to water turbidity

Thousands of residents living in areas between Lami to Nausori are likely to face water cuts due to a steady increase in raw water turbidity levels over the past three days.

The Water Authority of Fiji says the situation is beginning to affect water production, and supply disruptions may occur if raw water quality does not improve.

WAF says at present, reservoir levels remain healthy, and water supply continues as normal however, they encourage residents in the following areas to store backup water supplies as a precautionary measure.

They say areas affected include Namadi areas, Mika Drue Place, Pathik Cresent, Bayview Heights, Mead Road including Volavola Road, Evetts Place, Top Shop Road, Sawau Road, Yohann Place, Vuibau Place, Sam Lal Road, Paul Sloan Street, Joyce Perks Street and Sakoca areas.

Elevated areas along Lakha Singh Road including Sakoca Wrong Turn, Delaiveiruka Place, Raikiwai Road and Nagatugatu Road are likely to be affected.

WAF says other areas likely to be affected also include Raibevu Road, Tacirua Heights, Raisuluwaki Road, Nakoivalu Road, Dokanisuva Road and MH Superfresh, Upper Mead Road, Princes Road from Twomey Hospital to Loa Street Junction, including Tamavua Koro, Niranji, Devoji, Upper Ragg Avenue, Upper Mead Road to Lovoni Road Junction, Goodrum, Kaba Pl, Upper Nailuva, Upper Samabula area, Upper Raiwaqa.

Other areas along Princess Road, from the Junction of Savutalele to the Junction of Khalsa Road, including Jeremiah College, Savutalele Settlement and Karta Sen Feeder Road could also be affected.

They add the Upper Delanivesi, including Baka Road, Palm Drive, Lester St, Sote road 1 and 2, Nakauvadra Road, Yasi Road, Kaunitoni Road, Qaranivalu Road, Bulou Road, Rogovoka, Naicobocobo could also be affected.

WAF says upper areas of Lami Village Road, including Rokodrawe Road, Nakurukuru Village, Upper Valenicina, Matata, Qauia Street, Upper Naimawi Street, Waivote, Nakula Street, Upper Nasevou Street, Qauia Village Road, Vatuvia Road, Kalekana Settlement Road, Panoramic, Muaivuso, Muaivuso Village, Waikanake Village, Osonabukete, Beniveli could also face this problem.

WAF says their team is closely monitoring the situation and actively working to mitigate the impact on production and ensure consistent service delivery.
