Registered voters who are holding onto a green voter card that was issued before the 2014 general elections will need to upgrade to the blue voter card as announced by the Fijian Elections Office in 2020.

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem says although a voter is registered for life, the green voter card is expired and people need to get the upgraded card.

The Fijian Elections Office has also officially launched its Online Services Portal today which will enable voters from any part of the country to check and verify their voter details and polling venue.

Saneem urges voters to make use of the portal and verify their voter details especially residential address and polling venue to ensure they have enough time from now to update their details if necessary.

He says they are putting up this platform for voters in the urban areas to do a one-time check so that their details on the Voter List are as accurate as possible going into the 2022 general election.

Voters can access these services through the services.feo.org.fj portal and it will be live from now until the 2022 general election day.

If you need to upgrade to a blue voter card and also have a name registered in the Voter List that is not your birth certificate name, you can make the amendments by taking the birth certificate.

Saneem also says they will also update the names of those that bring in a new birth certificate with their updated name from the Births, Deaths and Marriages Office.

Parliament has passed the Electoral Registration of Voters Amendment Bill which now requires the application for registration as a voter to state the person’s full name as specified on his or her birth certificate and to also be accompanied by his or her birth certificate.

The next general election may take place between the 9th of July 2022 and the 9th of January 2023.
