Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro

The Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro is warning Heads of Schools and Management Committees that the responsibility for school maintenance and planning falls to them as clearly outlined in the 2020 School Management Handbook.

While addressing serious concerns over school infrastructure neglect and mismanagement of free education grant, Radrodro says ongoing neglect and poor management affect the quality of education.

He further says the recent inspection at Nabua Primary School revealed significant concerns, including mismanagement of the free education grant and a deteriorating 88-year-old building.

Radrodro underscores the need for schools and communities to take ownership, stating that without active involvement, educational quality remains at risk.

He says the Ministry of Education is now engaging with community leaders, District Officers and stakeholders to address these infrastructure needs.

Radrodro says the coalition government is committed to working collaboratively to ensure schools across Fiji provide a supportive environment for students and improve educational outcomes.
