Fiji Water Flying Fijians utility back Semi Radradra could miss the opening of the French Top 14 2024/2025 season for Lyon following visa issues regarding his son that have left him still stuck in Fiji.

Radradra moved back to France last season after a three-year stint in England with Bristol Bears and played for the Flying Fijians against the All Blacks last month in San Diego.

It is believed that he thought he could travel back to France without a visa for his son but boarding was denied and a race is now on to provide the necessary paperwork.

Radradra’s son who is less than a year old and born in France, is listed on Radradra’s passport, which implied that he did not need a visa to go to France and when they were leaving Fiji for France, boarding was refused to Radradra’s son.

A statement from the club states that a visa was ultimately necessary and the application, which is transiting via Singapore for administrative reasons, was sent urgently but the processing time can take up to 10 days.

They say Radradra will be back in France on Friday at the earliest but he is in any case expected before the resumption of the Top 14 and an update will be made upon his arrival on his physical condition.

The Top 14 2024/2025 season kicks off on September 7 with Lyon playing Montpellier in round 1 of the competition.
