Radisson Blu Resort in Denarau continues to remain open despite the challenges of the first and second waves of the COVID-19 pandemic since last year, and the resort in Nadi is ensuring that by following strict COVID protocols, they can be open for fully vaccinated adults to come with their children.

Radisson’s General Manager, Charles Homsy says they had over 400 staff before COVID-19 last year, and they then used about 160 staff when they focused on local tourism but they now have about 60 workers on rotation.

He says they continue to follow strict COVID protocols, and they even implemented the no jab no job and no jab no guest policies for the resort.

Homsy says the children are allowed to come with fully vaccinated parents.

He says this is the future for businesses as seen in other countries.

Homsy says they have also been innovative in creating their hotel rooms as office spaces.

He also says Radisson Blu Resort has a special Father’s Day weekend for families this weekend. Homsy says they are looking forward to the vaccination rates increasing, and the borders opening up based on discussions underway among the stakeholders.

Meanwhile Permanent Secretary for Health, Doctor James Fong says the main thing is that if we have a significant proportion of people in a group vaccinated and there is a high level engagement of COVID safe measures, then that group will have within it plenty opportunities to stop the transmission.

He says this is the only way we can protect those not eligible for vaccination and also prevent facilitating the spread within the group.
