After day one of the Suva Secondary Schools Basketball Competition, Ratu Kadavulevu School Under 19 Captain Tevita Vuiyanuca says basketball is anyone’s game and not just for the favourites like Marist and Yat Sen Secondary.

He says it is going to be a tough challenge because it has been two years since Secondary Schools Basketball started again and he says their main focus is discipline.

Vuiyanuca who is a former Yat Sen student says it is exciting to come back to this kind of environment and play against other schools.

RKS is fielding three teams this year in the Under 15, 17 and Under 19 grade.

Vuiyanuca and his under 19 team lost their first game to Suva Grammar 6-12.

In the girls under 15, International School Suva drew 16-all with Yat Sen Secondary in their first game, they then beat Suva Grammar School 16-4 in their second game.

In the boys U15, Yat Sen thrashed Ratu Kadavulevu School 31-4 in their first game, they then beat Grammar 17-7 in their second game while International School Suva defeated Suva Grammar 17-0.

In the boys Under 17 grade, Yat Sen A defeated Marist 14-11 in their first game, they thrashed Grammar 41-9 in their second game while ISS beat Gospel High School 24-15.

Still in the boys Under 17 grade, Yat Sen B edged RKS 7-6, International School Suva beat Grammar 27-1 in their first game and kept Grammar scoreless 15-0 in their second match.

In the girls Under 17, International School Suva held off Yat-Sen Secondary 10-7.

The games continue today.
