As Fiji is undertaking steps to review and amend the 2013 Constitution, Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad has reassured the people that the Constitution will be for the people and it will bring about unity and inclusivity in the governance and progress in the future.

Professor Prasad highlighted this while responding to questions on fijivillage Straight Talk with Vijay Narayan on anxiety from some of the sections of the community that it may become a Constitution that is more along racial lines.

The Deputy Prime Minister says this kind of opposition will come from some people who were part of the 2013 Constitution making and the military regime.

He says the easiest thing for them to say is that there will be a racist Constitution.

Professor Prasad adds the 1990 Constitution was a racist Constitution and people recognized that, and it was changed.
