National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad is calling on the government to stop coming up with excuses when people raise issues that they are facing or stop blaming others in the past as they have been in government for 15 years and have been part of an elected government for the last 7 years.

Professor Prasad says this sort of excuses and what the government is trying to do to resolve this, makes no sense.

He has called on the Acting Prime Minister and other cabinet ministers to spend more time in their office and come up with coherent plans.

Professor Prasad also says they know elections are coming because all of a sudden the Attorney General gets off his high horse and pretends he is a man of the people.

He says Sayed-Khaiyum is the one who is accountable to the people of Fiji for the state of the nation after 15 years.

Baulevu Nav Durga Temple priest Vineshwar Sharma says a number of people in the area are disappointed with police service delivery especially by the Baulevu Police Post and claims a number of cases involving crop thefts and damaging property are pending for over a year now.

Sharma says root crop thefts take place during the season when the demand is high.

He says overnight 10 to 15 bags of root crops can be stolen.

This matter was raised when the Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum visited the area after the temple break-in and burning of the holy book, Ramayan.

He says there are occasions when there is no response from police regarding their complaints.

While reacting to the complaints, Sayed-Khaiyum says community intelligence gathering is also needed to assist the Police and they will look into the issue and assessments will be made on a Police vehicle for the area.

Sayed-Khaiyum says they also continue to have reforms, and people have been removed from the force as they were not appointed on merit by some previous Commissioners.

We have sent questions to Police.
