It has been noticed that prices of some root crops and vegetables have decreased after the Suva lockdown was lifted yesterday morning.

This was evident today as we got positive feedback from people that the vendors have reduced the prices of vegetables.

Fijivillage has noticed that the price of a heap of dalo or cassava has significantly gone down from $10 to $4.

A farmer from Qelekuro Village in Tailevu, Karalaini Tamani says she has been selling a heap of cassava for $10 a heap during the Suva lockdown because there was a huge demand and less supply.

Tamani says this morning she moved the price down to $4.

The 42-year-old farmer says due to the competition between the vendors selling cassava and dalo beside her stall today, she had to decrease the price of cassava.

Rewa dalo farmer, Petero Junior says during the lockdown they were selling a heap of dalo for $10 in Nausori but since the Suva lockdown is lifted they are now selling the dalo for $5 a heap.

A vendor from Viria in Nausori who sells vegetables in Suva Market says during the lockdown he was selling a quarter piece of pumpkin for $4 but he is selling it for $2 and $2.50 as there is an abundance of supply now.

Pradeep Singh says during the lockdown the price of one bag of pumpkin from the middleman was $40 but now it has gone down to $30.
