Officers from the Poverty Monitoring Unit are currently conducting the Western Division Integrated National Poverty Eradication Program impact assessment survey.

The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection says the they are carrying out an impact assessment on the government’s poverty alleviation programmes to find the gaps and improve service delivery.

They say this financial year, the Unit is conducting impact assessments on poverty alleviation programmes of government implemented by the Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Fisheries, Ministry of Housing, and the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection.

They say 9 programmes are being monitored by the Unit and include Apiculture Development Programme, Brackish Water Development Programme, Care and Protection Allowance, Coastal Fisheries Development Programme, Disability Allowance Scheme, Fertilizer Subsidy programme, Rehabilitation Programme, Housing Assistance for Persons with Disability and Small Grants Projects.

The Ministry says the survey began on the 8th of April in the Province of Ra, after which enumerators proceeded to the Province of Ba visiting beneficiaries and projects implemented through the assistance of the above Ministries.

They say last week, the monitoring and evaluation teams split into three groups, with two teams visiting projects on the mainland while a team led by Director Poverty Monitoring Unit visited beneficiaries and projects in the Yasawa Group of islands.

This week, the monitoring team will conclude the Western Division INPEP Survey visiting projects and interviewing beneficiaries in the Province of Nadroga/Navosa.
