As we head into the Easter long weekend, with many families preparing for road trips, gatherings, sporting events or picnics, Police are urging everyone to prioritise safety.
With increased traffic expected on the roads, drivers are reminded to buckle up, stay within speed limits and never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Police say if people are planning a get-together that involves alcohol - moderation is key, as several assaults, domestic violence and fatal accidents are fueled by alcohol.
They add that people should inform their family, relatives who live nearby or neighbours if they are planning on a weekend away and also to secure properties as many burglaries are opportunistic.
They are reminding people not to venture out to deeper waters and don’t swim alone and keep a close eye on the children.
