Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua

Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua assures the public that every report against a police officer will be thoroughly investigated, and there is a system within the Force to deal with it according to the law.

This was the message by Tikoduadua when questioned by the media on how the government, particularly the Ministry, is working together with the Police in ensuring that officers are doing their job diligently in serving the public, as in recent days some officers have been charged for breaching the law.

He says their biggest challenge is ensuring the Force is professional in all aspects of their work.

He adds they will be reviewing the Police Act because it will help officers in the way they conduct their work in light of the changing environment we are in.

The Minister says Police is the entity that the people can have confidence in to protect them so people are safe everywhere.

In the past few days, a police officer was charged with the alleged involvement in the murder of a 20-year-old in Tovata, while two officers from the North were charged for the alleged rape of a female officer.
