Police have erected checkpoints at various locations within the Central Division and people should expect to be questioned by Police if they are seen travelling unnecessarily.

Members of the public are urged not to make unnecessary movement.

Fijivillage witnessed Police officers checking vehicles and turning people away who were travelling with their children in the cars.

Police confirm they have started turning back people from checkpoints as some people are taking their whole family for shopping.

Please refrain from doing so and avoid putting yourself in a regrettable situation.

Chief of Operations, ACP Abdul Khan says this is to assist the whole of government approach in combating COVID-19.

Police say for parents and guardians, avoid taking your children shopping and it is best if you left them at home with someone to supervise.

Some people are also still out without masks and Police encourage them to do so especially in public spaces as this is now mandatory.
