Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua

Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua says today marks a turning point for the Fiji Police Force which is the Police Reset as crime is evolving and to meet these challenges, they must adapt.

Tikoduadua highlighted this at the Police Academy Grounds in Nasova where they were celebrating the Fiji Police Force’s 150th Anniversary, saying as they look back, they must also look ahead.

He says crime does not stand still-it as it evolves, and we are seeing this more clearly than ever before; whether it is through sophisticated cybercrime, the growing menace of organised crime, or the scourge of illicit drugs, the challenges they face are more complex than at any point in our history,

He says the Police Reset is more than a strategy as it is a commitment to transforming how the Force operates in a rapidly changing world.

Tikoduadua says this is not about doing more of the same, it is about rethinking how the Force protects and serves.

He says the Reset will require investment-not just in technology and equipment, but in the men and women who make up the Force.

The Minister says training, professional development, and a renewed focus on integrity and service will be central to this transformation.

He says they will be placing greater emphasis on community policing, because true safety comes not only from enforcing the law but from building trust and cooperation with the people they are sworn to protect.

Tikoduadua says they are asking much of their officers as they embark on this transformation, but they do so with confidence that this is the right course.

He says the Police Reset will allow them to tackle modern crime in a modern way, while holding firm to the values that have guided us for the last 150 years.

The Minister says he wants to take a moment to recognise the families whose support, though often quiet and unseen, is a pillar of strength that allows their officers to serve.

He says the sacrifices they make are a part of the fabric of this institution, and they honour them as well.

Tikoduadua says there will be challenges, but the purpose is clear where they are building a safer, more secure Fiji for all its people.
