Police Blue do not see challenge coming from the opposition but from within themselves

Our biggest challenge is coming from within our team and not from our opposition.

Those were the words of Police Blue coach Sale Tubuna as they prepare for the first day of the Fiji Bitter Yalovata 7s in Ovalau today.

Tubuna says their main focus is on themselves and not on the opposition as they try to improve on areas they need to work on before every game.

He says once they have focused on themselves, reanalysed and improved on their weakness, the opposition will then take care of itself.

Tubuna says they have been boosted by the return of some of their senior players, but their fitness was also monitored considering the amount of competition in the team that is coming from the new players.

He says they want to get their fitness standard back to where it was and that is the national standard.

He adds it might take time to achieve that but they are working on it.

Tubuna says coming into this tournament, they are looking to counter their opposition’s weaknesses and capitalise on them as most of the teams have played them a lot of times in most tournaments locally.

Police Blue will have the services of some season campaigners like Belasio Vukiwai, Keponi Paul, Rusiate Matai and also some of the Police Sukana Bowl squad players.

Police Blue is in pool C alongside Mataravua, Flame Tree Waimanu and Yalovata Red.

The Fiji Bitter Yalovata 7s will kick off today and will conclude on Saturday at Nasau Park in Ovalau.
