The People's Alliance turns one today and Alliance Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka says their mission is to win the election and lead Fiji forward.

While speaking during the first-year anniversary celebration of the party in Suva today, Rabuka says the successful registration of the party was, on its own, a milestone of huge proportions, and from that point, the party was officially in existence.

Rabuka says they now have in place an evolving infrastructure to serve what has become a major political organization.

He claims that some were desperate for their failure.

Rabuka says the minimum number of signatures required was 5,000 but the People’s Alliance got 10,000.

He says the party’s regional executive councils are in place for the Central, Northern, Western and Eastern divisions; the people's executive councils are at the national level; and while the overseas division includes Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S., all other overseas chapters fall under the Central Division.

Rabuka also says if candidates wish to make statements, these would be scrutinized by their communications team and the General Secretary to ensure all statements and comments accurately reflect the party’s position.

Rabuka says that the party also has the highest importance of partnership with the National Federation Party, which will transform the political and social landscape of the country and win the election.

He further says that some sitting parliamentarians had indicated they would join the People’s Alliance.

This is expected to happen when parliament is dissolved.
