People are struggling to put food on the table in the Western Division according to National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad.

Professor Prasad is currently on a listening tour with Opposition and SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka.

Prasad says it is important that the government listens to people on the ground and what they are going through.

The NFP Leader has also reiterated his call for the government to come up with a revised 2020/2021 National Budget to ensure appropriate allocations are re-directed at supporting people’s income and those who are falling below the poverty line.

Prasad says government should remove the allocations such as $7 million for the Prime Minister’s Office, remove assistant ministers, reduce the size of the cabinet and cut unnecessary travel by ministers.

He says the people need urgent assistance.

He says the smaller issues raised by people can be dealt with through the relevant government departments and ministries while issues such as looking after people and how they can support them with income and other assistance will be raised in parliament.

Meanwhile, Rabuka and Prasad were in Nadi today as part of their Listening Tour in the Western Division.

The two leaders visited Nadi Market, Nadi Hospital, cane farmers and also visited the FRIEND Fiji, TISI Sangam and the Civil Society Organizations Alliance for COVID-19 Humanitarian Response Centre in Navakai, Nadi.

The NFP says cane farmers in Nawaicoba in Nadi raised the issue of water supply and access to clean drinking water.
