The people of Namosi, Serua and nearby villages will greatly benefit from improved safety and emergency services with the opening of the new Navua Fire Station.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vunivalu na Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua says with quicker response times for fires, road accidents and natural disasters, this state-of-the-art facility will provide much-needed protection for communities across the region.

He says the station represents a vital lifeline for communities, especially in areas like Navua, Waidina, Lomawai and others, which are vulnerable to flooding, fires and other emergencies.

Ratu Suliano says the fire station will not only improve firefighting services but will also provide swift water rescue teams essential for flood-prone areas, such as those along the Navua River.

He says in addition to fire and rescue services, the station will also support ambulance and pre-hospital care services, ensuring that medical assistance is readily available during critical times.

He says the fire station’s presence will bring tangible benefits to the local community, especially through the provision of fire safety education and outreach programs.

He says these programs will help teach local residents fire prevention techniques, proper escape routes and basic firefighting skills, ensuring that communities are well-prepared in case of emergencies.

Ratu Suliano also emphasised the career opportunities the fire station would create for local youth, particularly in Namosi and Serua, allowing them to pursue firefighting and emergency response as viable career options.
