People living along Wainibuku Junction to the Rewa Bridge facing water cuts

Thousands of people living along the Kings Road from the Wainibuku Junction to the Rewa Bridge are currently facing water cuts.

Some people living along those areas have contacted us this morning and raised concerns that they have been facing water disruptions since yesterday morning and were not given any notice.

The Water Authority of Fiji says the disruption is due to a malfunctioned gate valve situated at the Wainibuku Junction.

Areas affected are Nakasi, Naulu, Chadwick Road, Davuilevu Housing, Gagali Road, Buabua Road, Sasawira Street, Farm Road, Waidamudamu, FNU Koronivia, Koronivia Research Station areas, Koronivia Road up to Lokia, Dhalip Street, Ramendra Street, WPD Davuilevu, Davuilevu Theological College and Lelean Memorial School.

WAF say they will carry out urgent repair works to have the gate valve replaced however a total shutdown of the Wainibuku Reservoir outlet is required.

They say they did not immediately carry out repairs as this would have resulted in a larger section of the Nasinu area without water for days.

Water carting trucks were deployed this morning and people can call WAF on 5777 for assistance.
