Hanfakaga Motofaga and Assistant Minister for Health, Alex O’Connor.

A mother of four who is suffering from a rare kidney disease has been receiving assistance from people including the Assistant Minister for Health, Alex O’Connor.

Hanfakaga Motofaga’s recent diagnosis revealed that her kidneys are functioning at 6% due to the disease.

She lost her husband through leukaemia in 2018 and has been looking after her children despite suffering from an infection.

Motofaga’s brother Waisale Fatnifau says people are eager to help with money, kind words of support and wishing her well. Fatnifau also says he got a call from the Assistant Minister for Health Alex O’Connor, who offered his support.

We have also contacted Permanent Secretary for Health, Doctor James Fong and he has asked for more information on Motofaga’s medical reports to see how they can assist.

Fatnifau says they are also waiting for more reports this week to find out what is causing the infection. Motofaga’s treatment is now scheduled for 2 to 3 times a week for the next 5 to 7 months and each session will cost $250. You can donate funds to this worthy cause through Waisale Fatnifau’s BSP bank account number 80502993. You can also call Fatnifau on 8656847.
