Thousands of people living in the Lami-Suva-Nausori corridor continue to feel the full effects of the water disruptions due to low levels at the Waimanu River.

Many people have had no water for days, and many have been seen waiting for water trucks with buckets on the roadside late into the night.

A resident from Davuilevu Housing, Ruby Bukalase says having water problems everyday is normal to her as they have been experiencing it for years.

Bukalase says she is late to work because of water disruptions and has to return home early to store water.

She adds whatever amount of water is stored is not enough for them as they have children at home.

A resident from Tamavua who describes herself as a very frustrated human being says they are facing terrible water shortages. She says the water supply is insufficient for cooking and washing and they had the worst Easter due to the issue. A resident of Makoi, Ravuama Leilovo says they have water in the morning for a short time after which they have to struggle for hours for normal water supply.

He says they are surviving on bottled water which is now an additional cost to the family. A resident from Uduya Point, Tima Tabuaqoro says they have been experiencing water disruptions at her place and the water carting trucks are not supplying water to them.

Please note water usage for car washing, watering of plants and gardens, irrigation of new turf, topping up of swimming pools and washing of hard surfaces like driveways and footpaths is prohibited during this dry spell.
