Assistant Commissioner of Police Livai Driu says people can be charged with common nuisance for playing loud music and causing disturbance.

This after a Makoi, Nasinu resident raised concerns about people drinking overnight, making noise, and disturbing other members of the community.

ACP Driu says people can party at their own residences and for as long as they like, but they have to be mindful that it does not annoy or disturb anyone through loud excessive noise.

He also urges people to be considerate of others while partying as police will be around to assist during the next few remaining days of the year.

While speaking to fijivillage News, the Makoi resident who wishes to remain anonymous, says at around 2 this morning, they heard their neighbours singing loudly, shouting, playing loud music and drinking, which was disturbing them.

She says when they called the police around the same time, there was no response from them.

She also says they made another call later where officers came and talked to the people, however, she claimed that no action was taken, and the people were still playing loud music and making noise after the officers had left.

The concerned resident says all their family members are working, and such behaviours disturb them as they are not able to sleep at night due to loud music and noise.
