Some members of the public have raised concerns on why buses servicing the Suva to Nausori route stop passengers from boarding the bus for a short run.

LTA Senior Regulatory Analyst, Samuela Veitala says drivers may use their discretion and professional judgment to pick and drop passengers as long as they do not interfere or directly affect the operation of bus operators on short routes.

Veitala says the public can board the Central Transport and Dee Cees buses from Suva to Samabula which are two operators that were issued with licenses to provide services for commuters on those routes.

He says the reason why some drivers may disallow passengers to travel on a fraction of the route is mainly due to consideration given to existing bus operators that operate to and from the routes that passengers are willing to travel on.

He says all bus operators must ensure that they do not interfere with other bus company's routes or provide any direct competition that may adversely affect existing operators’ passenger loading and operation.
