Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro is encouraging children to take this moment to reflect and appreciate the contribution of their families, teachers, and friends to their lives.

While sharing his message of Palm Sunday, Radrodro says we all learn the values of empathy and service to one another from each other, and together, we can create a culture of kindness and collaboration.

He says as we celebrate Palm Sunday today, it is a special day in Fiji and all around the world.

Radrodro says we will see children waving Palm branches with joyous vibes and singing the glory of the Lord Almighty, and on the same note, he wishes all children a blessed Palm Sunday.

Emphasising the essence of community engagement during Palm Sunday, Radrodro says Fiji is fortunate to be blessed with a rich tapestry of diverse cultures and backgrounds of students and teachers in our schools.

He adds this diversity strengthens our belief in community partnership as it enhances our teaching and learning environment.

Speaking to parents and teachers, the Minister says they have a profound impact on the lives of their students, and their continued dedication and commitment nurture children’s aspirations and shape their futures.

He encourages them all to keep this spirit of service alive in their classrooms and homes.

The Education Minister further states that on this Palm Sunday, may we all carry the message of hope, peace, unity and the importance of love and care for our children.

He says let us commit ourselves to cultivating hope and positivity in our schools and communities because every positive action contributes to the greater good of our communities.

Meanwhile, thousands of Christians today are celebrating Palm Sunday with children given the pulpit to lead the service in the morning and afternoon.

Palm Sunday commemorates the entrance of Christ into Jerusalem, during which palm branches were placed in his path, before his arrest on Holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday.

It thus marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent.

This morning, the Sunday School Ministry led the service at 6am.

According to Pastor DiSevu Tuimoro, leading the Young Peoples Department of the Methodist Church in Fiji, the Sunday School Ministry held a one-week church service alongside their preparation for Sunday.

She says throughout the week, they have been teaching the children about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

She also urges parents and guardians to ensure that their children are taught good values and beliefs that will help them in their future endeavours.
