Pacific Trade Training Course to equip officials with skills and knowledge for multilateral trade negotiation - Kamikamica

This is an opportunity for Trade officials to be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to actively participate in multilateral trade negotiations and in turn, will enable them to better represent the interests of their nations and drive economic growth and sustainable development.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, SME and Communications Manoa Kamikamica stated this at the Pacific Trade Training Course at the Grand Pacific Hotel this morning.

Kamikamica acknowledged the commitment from the University of Adelaide, the Australian High Commission and the Australian Government in assisting the Pacific in building the capacity of the government officials in the realm of international trade through the training.

He says Fiji’s request for assistance in capacity building for this invaluable training opportunity is now being extended to other Pacific Trade officials and exemplifies their shared commitment to enhancing trade expertise and fostering economic prosperity across the region.

The Deputy Prime Minister further says as they develop these skills, they fortify the foundation of Fiji’s Vuvale Partnership with Australia, a bond that plays a vital role in fostering economic growth and prosperity for both our nations and the broader Pacific region.

He says the knowledge gained from this training will empower them to make significant contributions not only to Fiji's trade landscape but also to the Pacific's collective interests on the global stage.

Kamikamica adds they have the opportunity to leverage this training to bolster their collective efforts in regional and multilateral forums, shaping discussions, and advocating for the interests of their region on the international stage.
