400 trees and root crops are being planted to get money to open a trust fund for Bureta District School students and help them in their higher education.

Pacific Ark Organisation has undertaken the project and are working in collaboration with the school committee.

Organisation founder, Arno Roos says it's important to support the education of children at the lower level because it will encourage them to study hard and be a successful person in life.

The founder says the project is underway in Bureta Village and a few weeks ago his team started to plant 400 trees including native trees, dalo, cassava, ginger and vegetables that will be a source of funding for the school.

He further says empowering and educating youths and children in the village of Bureta on Agroecology and other forms of organic farming is a very innovative way of imparting their knowledge and skills on investing more in soil.

He says food security, resilience and new ways of agriculture are also the focus of implementing the project..

Roos says they are working closely with remote communities to develop sustainable solutions that benefit everyone.

He further says they recognise the value of indigenous knowledge and strives to incorporate it into their projects to create more effective and culturally appropriate solutions.

He adds he also has completed a water project in Natawa Village in Yasawa by providing water tanks for the school.
