In celebrations of the 2024 Global Recycling Day, the Pacific Recycling Foundation, in collaboration with Nestlé, is breaking the barriers of a unique and progressive partnership to preserve our planet for future generations.

Pacific Recycling Foundation Founder Amitesh Deo says that this partnership will bring more meaning to this year's Global Recycling Day and the work that they continue to carry out.

Deo says it is through partnerships such as this that the PRF will be able to fulfil its vision of creating awareness of the importance of recycling to combat plastic waste and promote eco-friendly alternatives.

He says they have had prior meetings with Nestlé where discussions were based on working on solutions to help generate pathways for soft plastics, and they acknowledge Nestlé for looking at ways to solve the soft plastic problems.

Nestle Fiji General Manager Tim Inkster says collaboration was key to making an impact.

Inkster says to address the challenges of soft plastics in the Pacific, we must work together to drive change.

He adds they are proud to support the important work of the Foundation, and they support the efforts towards a sustainable future for soft plastics.

He says as they strive to improve collection and recycling systems, they are equally committed to reducing our use of virgin plastic.

Deo says Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka will return to officiate at this year’s event along with esteemed leaders who are former scholars of Queen Victoria School and women leaders from various sectors.
