PM in New York and will meet Antony Blinken and Antonio Guterres

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is in New York to attend the 10th Review Conference of Parties on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and he will also address the United Nations General Assembly in his capacity as Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum.

According to a statement on the Fijian Government, while in New York, Bainimarama will also meet with the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres where they are expected to hold discussions on UN-Fiji cooperation and peacekeeping operations.

Bainimarama will meet with the U.S Secretary of State, Antony Blinken where they will take forward discussions on working together to support a more secure, stable and peaceful Pacific region, climate action commitments and strengthening bilateral relations, more generally.

The Prime Minister will also provide an update on the Pacific Islands Forum developments and our 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific, and our COVID-recovery efforts, amongst other important issues.

The Prime Minister will also meet with his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida along the margins of the 10th Review Conference of Parties on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

Bainimarama is accompanied by the Minister for Rural, Maritime Development and Disaster Management and Defence, National Security and Policing, Inia Seruiratu and the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister Yogesh Karan.
