A huge challenge has been laid to the leaders of Navatu Village and the Senior Executives of Navatu Junior Secondary School by the Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to ensure that all students who come out their doors are well-equipped with the knowledge and wisdom that will assist them in their future endeavours.

While speaking at the school, Rabuka says everywhere he has been speaking, he has been highlighting the importance of educating our children.

He says another important thing children should know is financial literacy as this will be useful in their everyday life.

Rabuka acknowledges that technical courses are provided at Navatu so students have more opportunities on what career path they would like to take.

He also reminded the parents and the Vanua leaders who were present that a high number of street dwellers in the cities and towns are i-Taukei children who came to the urban centres for better opportunities.

He says there needs to be a more solid foundation for these students before moving to urban centres.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that most youths now do not have any technical skills which is why most of them opted for the PALM Scheme in Australia and the New Zealand Seasonal Work Scheme. Rabuka also reminded parents and the Vanua about their roles in uplifting the lives of their children.
