Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is calling on civil servants to work without fear but to exercise freedom of expression when the need arises.

He highlighted this while speaking to Heads of Government Departments in the North as a part of his first tour to Vanua Levu, after taking up office.

Rabuka says working in fear was not encouraged but for individuals to carry out their work to the best of their abilities and to promote nation building.

He says development never ends, let us play our part during our generation so that the foundation for the future generation is firmer than what we build, although they were built by the previous generation.

Rabuka says their mode of operation is in cooperation with the people to promote the development of the nation, and that is why he is focused on unity and joint effort in his New Year’s address.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that the Government's core function was to assist members of the public, and it was imperative that civil servants worked hand in hand, to ensure that this was carried out well.

He also visited Namulomulo Village and continues his week long North-Tour today, where he will be opening the Drekeniwai Village Hall in Cakaudrove.
