Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka addressed members of the Fijian Diaspora in Los Angeles last night, highlighting key government priority areas earmarked for boosting staffing so their Missions are empowered to handle immigration matters and other necessary services.

Rabuka says it is quite difficult for some of them to travel to Fiji to get passports renewed and for this reason, they are engaging in talks to improve this.

With the re-opening of the Fiji Embassy in Washington, Rabuka confirmed that the coalition government is also looking to boost staffing at all our diplomatic missions for more reliable and efficient services.

He says for immigration services, it is quite difficult for some of the people to travel to Fiji to get passports renewed.

Rabuka says the government has its fair share of challenges and their first 15 months have not been easy, but they continue to find ways to keep moving forward.

The Prime Minister reiterates that the people are all bearers of the Fiji flag wherever they are, and they should be proud Fijians.

Rabuka also took the opportunity to update them about the government’s development initiatives and plans for the future.

After the traditional formalities, a talanoa session was held where those in attendance had the opportunity to engage directly with the Prime Minister.
