Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says our response to this pandemic calls on every Fijian to sacrifice in the name of the collective good.

While giving his message for the Eid-al-Adha Festival which means Festival of Sacrifice, Bainimarama says it calls on our compassion to care for our health and the health of others.

Bainimarama further says to end this outbreak, our commitment to each other cannot wane.

The Prime Minister has asked people to remain in adherence to the COVID-safe measures, be vaccinated to protect yourself and your country from the worst effects of the virus.

He says he asks that you keep the faith that we will triumph over this disease and take back the lives we knew, so that soon, our mosques, churches and temples can be open, all of us can safely be together, and our many sacrifices will not have been in vain.

Eidal-Adha honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ishmael as an act of obedience to God's command. Before Prophet Ibrahim could sacrifice his son, however, God provided a lamb to sacrifice instead.
