Our faith is an important antidote to the moral decay that is around us - Vosarogo

As a people of faith, we have an important role in the order and conduct of our nation and an important antidote to the moral decay that is around us.

This has been highlighted by the Minister for Lands Filimoni Vosarogo while speaking during Prophet Mohammed Day celebrations in Labasa where he says we should be the moral compass for our nation during times that may become turbulent.

Vosarogo says this is essential for a democratic society like ours that seeks to strive for economic progress but plans must be guided by the principles that is anchored in our own faiths.

The Minister further says as a father, setting the right moral foundation for our children is important and these are some of the values that our major religions in Fiji have in common.

He says we find common ground in these ideals by understanding and respecting one another because no matter our differences, our faith is the greater power that unites us.

Vosarogo says Prophet Mohammed speaks on the importance of respect and of honour by children to their parents.

He says it is the same in the Bible and he is sure it is the same in the holy books of other faiths.

The Minister says the teachings bring us closer to God and closer to each other as fellow men - responsible for our brothers and sisters and ensuring that we must all live a life as holy, incorruptible and pure before God and man.

Vosarogo has highlighted that these are the values that we need to live by in a world that is constantly being challenged by radical ideals.

He is urging everyone to stand firm in their belief and faith and let's be the light that our world and country needs.

The Minister is also urging the Muslim community to celebrate the life of the Prophet by continuing to show love, understanding, social justice and equality among all people so that all of us can be exemplary people.

He has also acknowledged the Muslim community’s contribution to Fiji's wellbeing.
