Even if you have cancer or you are a survivor, you can still carry on with what you have been doing before you got sick. Just take one day at a time.

This is the message from 65-year-old cancer survivor Api Kurusiga as she continues with her small business today at the Fiji Cancer Society Market Day at Waimanu Road in Suva.

Kurusiga took a break from her business during the COVID-19 lockdown before she was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer last year.

After being treated locally and going through six cycles of chemotherapy, she says she is thankful for the love, care and support from her children and close family members that helped her through her treatment.

Kurusiga specialises in marketing locally made products like honey, virgin coconut oil, noni juice, turmeric tonic and hand-made coconut based soap, and these are available at the market day.

The Fiji Cancer Society Market Day is organised regularly with the next one planned for next month.

You can visit the market day until 2pm today at 333 Waimanu Road which is located opposite the CWM Maternity Unit.

A variety of items like cakes and pies, fruits and vegetables, hand-made jewellery, pot plants and handicraft are available at the market day and are being sold by cancer survivors.
