Villagers of Nukuloa in Lutu, Wainibuka, have been urged to use the resources around them to sustain their daily lives rather than going to Supermarkets and spending more money during these challenging times.

Assistant Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Sakiusa Tubuna says there have been a lot of talks about the rise in the cost of living, and Fiji is not the only country in the world facing this challenge.

He says bigger nations that have more monetary power, such as Australia and New Zealand, are also facing these challenges.

Tubuna assured the people that the government is working to reduce the cost of living.

The Assistant Minister also told the villagers to use the resources around them, such as coconuts, cassava, dalo, and many more, to sustain their daily lives because nowadays more people are moving to urban centres for better opportunities.

Tubuna says the government is committed to developing the quality of life of those living in villages.

He also told the villagers to ensure their Village Development Plan is thought up well and should have the input of everyone including youths and women.

Tubuna assured the villagers that the government would not leave anyone behind in terms of development.
