It has not been easy, particularly this short time through the campaign period, elections, and the period immediately after which was quite special in a way because it is not the Fiji Police Force’s usual working conditions.

Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua stated this at the Police Special Response Unit and adds he would like to thank the Acting Police Commissioner, Juki Fong Chew, senior police officers, and all the members of the force for all the work that they have done so far.

Tikoduadua says obviously the transition of government and for the security environment to be calm and quiet is all he has been getting, and it is all Fiji has been experiencing.

He also says despite all the political comments, the skirmishes that has been happening in the media and on social media, the law and order situation has been calm and quiet.

The Minister further says he cannot thank them enough and he has seen how much they need across all areas, be that the personal needs of the officers, the group or their families.

He says some of the conditions have been there for a while and that is no excuse for leaders like him.

Tikoduadua adds there is a standard that if they want the best out of the Police in terms of the outcome of the maintenance of the rule of law and order, then government must do its part to make sure it meets the needs of the Police.
