Many teachers in the Northern Division have raised serious concern as they are not being released on time by their respective heads of schools despite a circular published last year on their arrival and departure time.

Some teachers have told fijivillage News that it not fair since most of the schools close at 3pm where teachers can visit banks on time, however a few heads of school are still releasing teachers after 3.30pm and teachers are late when they reach the town.

They also claim that some school heads are holding teachers after 3.30pm twice a week, and school heads hold staff meetings every week and PD where teachers are released after 4.30pm.

They say teachers are reaching home after 6pm twice a week.

According to a Ministry of Education circular, teachers are to be in school at 8am from Monday to Friday and leave at 3.30pm everyday except on Friday, where they must leave at 3pm.

Questions have been sent to the Ministry of Education. They are yet to respond.
