Minister for Home Affairs, Pio Tikoduadua says there is no room for thugs or thuggery in developing the culture of the Fiji Police Force and has reminded police officers that they are not soldiers, neither are they prison officers nor civilians or public servants like every other person in the public service.

While speaking to officers on his tour of the Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba Police Stations, Tikoduadua says part of their work involves the use and management of violence.

Tikoduadua says they are police officers and there is a certain culture and distinct tradition about it and as such it implies that they only report to the law and they are not pressured, prejudiced or influenced by other factors that is going to disrupt the way they discharge their duty.

He says they are ably led by the Acting Commissioner and the officers and obviously, with leadership comes responsibility and there are certain values they must always uphold.
