Fiji Football Association President, Rajesh Patel has confirmed there are no players under investigation for submitting fake vaccination cards.

He says other media reports that players are under investigation and fake cards had been submitted are inaccurate as the Ministry of Health are yet to return them the vaccination cards after the verification process.

He says they are only doing their due diligence.

Patel adds the verification process is taking place in collaboration with the Fiji National Sports Commission and the Health Ministry.

The Association had earlier confirmed all registered footballers around the country had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and had anticipated that 70 percent of the registered players to be fully vaccinated by the end of last month.

Meanwhile, Fiji FA CEO, Mohammed Yusuf says all national team players who have received their 2 doses have been cleared.

He says all other players records will be sent to the Ministry of Sports as part of their submission on Phase 2 of the framework for approval for football to resume.

Yusuf further says all cards submitted will have to be verified.

He adds anyone found to have had these fake cards will be disciplined appropriately.
