The Fiji Bus Operators Association has confirmed that operators will continue to not provide services on Sundays for at least another two weeks until 4th October.

From 4 October, all workplaces, tertiary institutions, houses of worship, hotels, restaurants, cafés, cinemas, gyms, pools, and tattoo parlours will be able to open at 70% capacity, but only to fully-vaccinated persons and containment zone borders have been lifted.

The Association earlier announced that services will not be available on Sundays in the containment zones to restrict the movement of people and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Association President, Nisar Ali Shah says the long haul Lautoka – Suva route through the Kings and Queens Highways will continue to be serviced on Sundays.

Shah adds he has not given strict directives to bus operators to not operate on Sundays and adds if operators feel the service is needed, they can provide it.

He says unless schools open and unrestricted movement is allowed again, the industry will not be able to bounce back to the extent they want to.

He is urging everyone to get fully vaccinated so that we all can go back to living our normal lives.
