Villagers of Naivilaca in Rewa can now breathe a little easier as a newly built seawall promises to protect their homes, farms, and future from the ongoing threat of coastal erosion and rising sea levels.

During a visit to the village earlier this week, the Minister for Agriculture and Waterways, Vatimi Rayalu, said the project is a vital step toward safeguarding communities that are vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

He says the seawall is not just about infrastructure, it's about protecting livelihoods, keeping families safe and giving people peace of mind.

Rayalu acknowledged the people of Naivilaca for their cooperation and community spirit in working together with the Government.

The Minister for Waterways says he was not only there to visit the village but to listen, understand their needs and work with the people to build stronger and more resilient communities.

The seawall is expected to significantly reduce the risk of flooding and land loss, which has long been a concern for villagers, who rely on the land and sea for daily sustenance.
