It was a memorable moment for street dweller, Tui Sonny Leo Toaisi after graduating with a certificate in Domestic Electrical Installation from the Fiji National University under the TVET program.

Toaisi says it is an honour for him to be part of the 150 students graduating today with the TVET program.

Toaisi says this is the first time in his life to graduate with a certificate.

The 44-year-old thanked the Ministry for Women, Children and Social Protection for encouraging him to participate in the TVET free courses at FNU.

FNU Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba thanked the Ministry of Education for the partnership to provide these free courses for those who lived in informal settlements, people living on the streets and school leavers to be educated and to create pathways for their future.

Professor Nabobo-Baba says this is the first batch of graduates to graduate from FNU under this course.

She says these free courses will help the students to be educated and be a beacon to the society in reducing the crime rate.

Meanwhile, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro says TVET can be inclusive, offering social equality in creating free education and job employment for our people in our societies.

Radrodro encourages the graduates to continue learning and mastering their skills and knowledge.
