Maori King, Te Arikinui Tūheitia Paki and Deputy Prime Minister, Winston Peters

Fiji will host New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister, Winston Peters and Maori King, Te Arikinui Tūheitia Paki tomorrow, as they are looking to build a new chapter in the advancement of diplomatic relations.

Peters and Maori King will meet Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General Henry Puna, and will also visit a New Zealand development programme activity.

The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations and advance Fiji and New Zealand’s cooperation, as underpinned by the Duavata Partnership and outlined by the commitment to address common goals in climate change, economic resilience and regional security.

The bilateral meeting between Rabuka and New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister Peters will have an opportunity to further strengthen and explore this partnership based on the national needs and priorities of the two nations; including in vital areas of development such as health, education and initiatives aimed at improving the livelihood of communities in Fiji.

It will be the Māori King’s first official visit to Fiji.
