A historic nationwide voter survey by the Fijian Elections Office will start in the Central Division tomorrow.

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem says this is the first time any election management body in Fiji will be reaching out to voters and finding out their views and expectations when it comes to elections.

Saneem stresses that this is a apolitical survey.

He says the Fijian Elections Office team will start the survey in the Central Division from tomorrow and they have external staff that have been recruited for the survey in the Western, Eastern and Northern divisions.

Saneem says those who are externally recruited will be starting the project from the 28th of this month.

The Supervisor of Elections says their IT team has developed a voter survey app.

Saneem says their teams will be going around and conducting the survey and they will need the voter card number to be able to carry out the survey on the app.

He says the survey staff will not know whether a voter voted or not.

Saneem says the survey will also provide them with factual data on the turnout and trends in the last election and it will greatly assist them in the preparation and delivery of the next election.

Saneem also says the intention of the survey is to give a report to the Electoral Commission so they can consider giving the Fijian Elections Office necessary directives for the next general election.
