Fiji National Sports Commission says they are having talks with the COVID Taskforce team to increase capacity at the sporting events from 50% to 75% and are also keeping in mind the Coca Cola Games in April

The Fiji National Sports Commission says they are having talks with the COVID Taskforce team to increase capacity at the sporting events from 50% to 75% and are also keeping in mind the Coca Cola Games in April.

Commission Chairman, Peter Mazey made these comments during the second day of the National Sports Commission Annual Conference.

He says it is difficult to constantly control people as 50% of the people in the stadium all seem to congregate in one area.

Mazey adds he is hoping they can look at it realistically and acknowledge that it has been almost one year since Fiji last had any community case of COVID-19.

The Chairman has also highlighted that they are constantly having talks with the Ministry of Health to open up a sports bubble with neighbouring countries.

He says the aim is to hold international tournaments in Fiji but athletes will still have to go through normal quarantine when they arrive and before they can play in the tournament.
