A Natabua High School Year 13 student has asked Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum if students should now be allowed to bring their mobile phones to school as it is important for everyone to have the careFiji app for contact tracing.

The student asked the question during a post-budget consultation at Natabua High School.

In response to the student, Sayed-Khaiyum said the good thing about coming to school is that there is a set class.

The student then told Sayed-Khaiyum that they are also not allowed to use their phones after school in school uniform even though they interact with other people.

Sayed-Khaiyum then said that he would not want to comment on the bringing of phones to school as there is a Education Ministry Policy on that.

Under Education Ministry policy, electronic devices can only be brought to school following approval by the head teacher or principal upon written consent by a parent or a guardian.
