Stadium bosses, team chief executives and food vendors in New Zealand are welcoming the news that sports fans are now allowed back into the stadium.

Radio NZ reports tickets are now on sale for the Super Rugby Aotearoa competition as fans are being encouraged to get back to watching live sport in person.

Eden Park will host the second match of the new competition and Eden Park chief executive Nick Sautner says he hopes for a ten year-high crowd this Sunday.

Sautner says there is a plan in place to keep rugby crowds safe and he has encouraged fans to pre-book their tickets so they can add their contact details.

He says there will be sanitising stations throughout the venue, hygiene promotion signage and there will be additional cleaning of touched surfaces throughout the venue and fans, if they desire, can access the QR code that will be available through the government tracing app.

He adds it would be great to see casual workers coming back, especially in hospitality as they employ up to 3000 staff who have not been working for the past 12 weeks.

Jeremy Mikoz from a popular food truck says getting back inside Wellington's Sky Stadium, will be a boost for the business.

The Highlanders will play the Chiefs at 7.05 pm this Saturday while the Blues will face the Hurricanes at 3.35 pm on Sunday.
