Jarryd Hayne’s sexual assault conviction could see the Ex-NRL star stripped of his Dally M Awards.

Hayne was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at her Newcastle home two-and-a-half years ago on Monday.

His sentencing hearing is set for May 6th with a judge saying jail sentence is inevitable however the former Fiji 7s player intends on appealing the conviction.

Hayne played 214 NRL games over stints with the Eels and Titans.

During that time he was named Rookie of the Year in 2006, won the top honour in 2009 and 2014, was named the Representative Player of the Year in 2014 and made the Team of the Year three times.

He also won the Brad Fittler medal three times for his efforts for NSW.

According to the Herald, the NRL feels it cannot be associated with Hayne if the conviction remains.

However, Dally Messenger III who is the grandson of the rugby league icon which the prestigious awards are named after believes Hayne should keep the honours regardless of the outcome of his appeal.

He says Hayne’s achievements should not be wiped from history and his name should still be present on the awards he has won.
