A space has been launched in Nadi to give an opportunity to people to work remotely, build their business and enjoy other services.

Director of MyDesk in Nadi Dipti Sharma says she has invested about $80,000 into the facility as she saw from her own experience while setting up her digital marketing business the need for a space for people who were in the process of starting their own business.

Sharma says the facility can accommodate up to 35 people at one time where people have access to high speed wifi, a kitchen, virtual meeting facilities and locker facilities for people to store their valuable items.

Sharma adds they also provide business service facilities such as printing, binding and laminating.

Minister for Commerce Faiyaz Koya says the launch of MyDesk is well-timed as Fiji is now “Open for Happiness” and Nadi will be receiving visitors from all walks of professions seeking a convenient place to work remotely.

Koya says MyDesk is a co-working space that empowers, fosters and cultivates long-term job growth and positive social impact.

He says with remote work becoming more common, MyDesk is about realising opportunities and adapting to technology and the corporate world as they simultaneously advance.

The Minister further says amidst the uncertainty of a pandemic, Sharma’s investment sends out a positive testimony that there are many ways to adapt to the new-normal we are living in today.
