You can expect more transparency into how the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission carries out its work following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Asia-Pacific Applied Economics Association.

The Asia-Pacific Applied Economics Association is a non profit association that aims to provide a forum and resource base for developing the research capacity of researchers in the Asia-Pacific region with a particular focus on applied econometrics, economic growth and stability, financial market performance and energy markets.

FCCC CEO Joel Abraham says through the research they will be able use cutting edge research to shape their policy making.

Abraham says they will also be able to look at the research they had already done in making price authorizations and call for it to be published.

He says this will allow anyone in the public space to be able to look at the decisions made by the FCCC and to a research based on that.

Asia-Pacific Applied Economics Association President, Professor Paresh Narayan says they thrive on opportunities to improve the quality of research so it transforms public policy in a meaningful manner.

Professor Narayan says this collaboration will set a new benchmark for policy research for the region to follow.

He adds they endeavour to empower researchers to be leaders in the work they do through strategically focused capacity building programs that include leadership development.
